Ms. May
Name: Hot-ta Trotsky Team: Staff
How many years have you been helping with the league? Since Season 2, I helped run the scoreboard. I did that for many seasons. Somewhere in there I was the Support Manager for a season. Once I helped bench manage for Team Unicorn up in Hamilton, Ontario. I took a year off from derby work and now I'm the Art Committee Manager.
What attracted you to the league? I think that my first time volunteering was also my first time seeing a bout. I've been in love ever since. I always look forward to the bouts. I think what we've all built together is amazing and I can't wait to see where we are in a few years.
What was your favorite moment at a bout? When a Res Doll Jammer gets knocked down (I kid - I love you guys). Uhm... yeah, but no, really, I think that's my favorite part.
What is the most interesting part of your league job? Its so excellent to see the artwork that people make for us. The posters (always on sale at the merch table) have been really great this season and I have my hardworking and creative committee members to thank. They know their stuff and its so fun to see what they come up with.
What is your favorite team/skater and why? The first game I ever saw I decided to root for the Unholy Rollers. They are total badasses. I was super intimidated and amazed by the women on that team. Specifically Jewels and Rita Slayworth. And then in season 4 my sister, Elle Machete, made it onto the Unholies, which gave me another reason to love that team. I even changed my derby name from Absinthe to Trotsky so I could stop wearing green and start wearing red. Also I love Team Unicorn. 'Cause obviously they are made of sparkles and happy things.
