Final Scores: Quad Squad- 76; Vaudeville Vixens -
48
Reservoir Dolls - 92; Unholy Rollers - 66
The Quad Squad and the Reservoir Dolls will compete for the
title of 2007 Season Champion and for custody of the Gilded
Leg trophy in the April 28 season finals. The Avengers in
Green defeated the Vaudeville Vixens, and the Hooligans in
Black and White defeated the Unholy Rollers in semi-final
bouts Saturday March 31. It
will be "déjà vu all over again" as
the Quads and Res Dolls reprise the bout that put the Quads
in first place in 2006, and the Res Dolls in first place in
2005.
The Vixens, seeming a little disoriented by lineup changes,
struggled to keep their defense organized, allowing Quad jammers
to slip through and rack up steady points. But the Vixens
never gave up. Mustang blocked hard and racked up several
jammer takedowns, and Harlot Bronte again showed she's a jammer
to reckon with.
Despite an impressive Unholy Roller rally (including a 14-point
jam from Wildberry Punch) in the last minutes, the second
bout of the night ended in a Res Dolls win. With veteran Res
Dolls benched, rookies Stank Girl and Cassidy Butch got to
show their stuff in jamming and pivot positions.
At the beginning of the bout, the Unholy Rollers knocked
the crowd out with a dramatically executed introduction. One
by one, they fell to the track after being "shot"
by mascot Snack. As ominous music and the deafening chant
"BEST INTRO EVER!" shook the rafters, they rose,
undead and triumphant.
All four teams played without some of their standout skaters
in the semi finals. Missing in action were OctoPushy, HURAKAN
and Stevie Knocks (VV), Juggernaut, Vanna Whitetrash and Sassafrass
(QS); Jewels of DeNile and Dee Toure (UR); and Crackerjack
and Pocahotass (RD). The revised line-ups pulled girls from
the packs into jamming and pivot positions and showcased the
depth of talent in the league. All four teams expect to be
at full strength for the finals.
The season finale on April 28 promises plenty of speed and
cunning, with the Res Dolls primed to settle the score with
the Quad Squad. The Vixens and Unholy Rollers will battle
it out for Number 3 in the Grudge Match.
Tickets will be available at the usual outlets and at www.madrollindolls.com.
