Madison, January 18, 2007 — The Mad Rollin' Dolls'
third season of flat-track roller derby kicked off with a
sold-out, maximum capacity crowd on Jan. 13, blowing all previous
MRD attendance records to smithereens. Cheering from tiptoes,
chair tops, and even from perched atop Fast Forward's
lockers, happy onlookers were treated to a re-match of last
season's championship game.
The hits were hard and the wheels spun so fast, some swear
they smelled smoke. In the end, the Reservoir Dolls upset
2006 Season Champs, the Quad Squad, in a stunning 74 to 56
victory. The second match-up of the night saw the Unholy Rollers
put up a strong fight, but ultimately the determined Vaudeville
Vixens
put more points on the board, winning 63 to 39.
The line-up on Saturday, Feb. 3 will be just as explosive,
as the Quad Squad sets out to prove to the Vaudeville Vixens
that the gals in green weren't season champs for nothing.
The Unholy Rollers, heavy with fast, fiery rookies, will strap
on their skates in an effort to tangle the Reservoir Doll's
ties in their wake.
As always, MRD gives back to the community, and a portion
of the evenings proceeds will go to Clean Wisconsin. A halftime
show by El Genneyya Bellydancing Troupe will keep the wild
crows in their seats while the Dolls hydrate and regroup.
After the bout, party the night away with the adrenaline-high,
rink-rashed, beautifully bruised Dolls at the High Noon Saloon,
entertainment provided by Those Poor Bastards, .357 String
Band and The Avoided. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the
door and are available at Fast Forward Skate Center, Freedom/Knuckleheads,
Capital City Tattoo, Cha Cha Beauty Parlor, Lakeside Press,
the High Noon Saloon, and at www.madrollindolls.com.
