Final Scores: Reservoir Dolls - 79; Quad Squad -
78
Vaudeville Vixens -80; Unholy Rollers - 76
With 10 minutes left and a 20-point deficit on the scoreboard,
the Reservoir Dolls surged and ended the season finale on
Saturday night with a hard-fought, one-point victory over
the Quad Squad and earned the Mad Rollin' Dolls League
Champion title for 2007.
The 2006 Champion Quad Squad dominated in the first period.
The Res Dolls struggled against the Quads' aggressive
blocking and slippery jammers. At the end of the first period,
the Quads were in the lead 48 to 32, but the Res Dolls returned
for the second period with blood in their eyes.
As the clock ran down, the Res Dolls rallied with high scoring
jams, closing the Quads' lead. With about two minutes
and one jam to go, the score was Quads 75 to Res Dolls 71.
Mouse (RD) took the line and scored eight blazing points,
pushing the Res Dolls just one point ahead before the final
whistle.
The Grudge Match between the Vaudeville Vixens and Unholy
Rollers was neck and neck, with the lead changing several
times in the first period. A nine-point jam by Back Doris
(UR) was a highlight of the period. The low point was tripping-fighting-punching
triple-threat penalty for Peter Pannies (VV), who was ejected
from the game.
The Unholy Rollers held a two-point lead (36-34) at the beginning
of the second period. The last 20 minutes featured double-digit
jams for both teams, with powerful whips and screeching passes.
Neither team was more than six points ahead all night. In
a down-to-the-wire finish, the Vixens took third place with
a final score of 80 to 76.
