JANUARY
30, 2005: MAD ROLLIN' DOLLS JANUARY 2005 BOUT
pic by TIMOTHY M. HUGHES
After months of getting up close and personal
with each other in practice, the Mad Rollin' Dolls finally took
off the gloves and went at it for real on January 30. In front
of a sold-out crowd, the Unholy Rollers took on the Psycho Kitties
to start things off. The dolls of darkness brought the pain with
Jewels of Denile, Maverick and Yngrid Murdersteen racking up big
points on the crazy cats. There was no letting up in the second
half, but Hell Kat and Frenchie led the fight for the Psycho Kitties
- including a bench clearing brawl in the 3rd period. In the end,
the Unholy Rollers' lead was just too much and the Psycho Kitties
fell short 162-77. Look for the bad blood to boil again in the
April rematch.
The action continued when the Quad Squad went
wheel to wheel with the Reservoir Dolls. Crackerjack, Pocahotass
and Tatum Tantrum let the Reservoir Dolls's high-powered offense
to a first-half lead. The Quad Squad came on strong in the second
half with some furious skating by Jenny Knoxville and Thunder
Kitten. A smoldering feud between Pam Demonium and Predator burst
into flames in the 4th period, resulting in Pam's ejection from
the bout. A fired up Quad Squad took it down to the wire, losing
the 4th quarter on the last jam of the night. The final score
was Reservoir Dolls 140, Quad Squad 121.
The Mad Rollin' Dolls are recovering nicely from scratches, bruises
and black eyes and are itching to get back out and settle some
more scores the derby way!

PROCEEDS
a portion of the proceeds from this bout went to help Andy Adams, local computer
genius, ace photographer and real cool cat, pay for medical expenses
incurred during his struggle with Hodgkins Lymphoma, a cancer of the
lymph system. By the end of August, Andy had completed his treatments
and was successfully declared in remission, yay! Unfortunately, lacking
adequate health insurance, his new lease on life includes a hefty pile
of medical expenses. It's the least we can do to help.
