pic by Flash | The Mad Rollin' Dolls know how to fight the March blues - knock
the snot out of each other! On March 11, the Unholy Rollers, 0-2 so far this season, faced
off against the Reservoir Dolls, standing 9-0 champions, in what
would prove to be one of the most exciting games so far this year.
With a roster of only nine skaters and nothing to lose, the Unholies
hit the track ready to fight and took an early lead over the Res
Dolls. Not discouraged, the Res Dolls stepped up their game, reclaimed
the lead, and it went back and forth throughout the half. For
only the second time in their history the Reservoir Dolls were
down at the half, half-time score: Unholy Rollers 28, Reservoir
Dolls 23.

| In the evening's second bout, the Vaudeville
Vixens - 1-1 for the season and reduced to nine skaters - took
on the 1-1 Quad Squad. The Quad Squad got off to an early and
commanding lead with a 10-0 jam by Jenny Knoxville. The Vixens
never caught up, but the crowd was on the edges of their seats
when a huge fight - instigated by Juggernaut & Mustang - resulted
in major penalties & a loss of one point for each team. It
was all worth it for Mustang, who beat Juggernaut in Zsa Zsa'a
"Underwear Race". Half time score: Vaudeville Vixens
18, Quad Squad 39. | pic by Flash |
pic by Flash | The third period brought the tension & excitement to fever
pitch as the Unholies & Res Dolls continued their frenzied
battle. The number of penalties steadily increased until, at one
point, the refs called the entire Unholy pack out, with substitute
skaters brought in from the bench. In the twelfth jam, with five
minutes to go, the Reservoir Dolls all-star line-up finally pulled
ahead. The refs struggled to maintain order as time-out after
time-out ate only seconds off the clock between each jam. The
Reservoir Dolls pulled off their hardest victory yet, nabbing
a 10-0 record and stealing the upset from the fangs of the Unholy
Rollers. Final score, Unholy Rollers 56, Reservoir Dolls 58.

| The final period got off to a good start for
the Vaudeville Vixens when Quad Squad jammer Big Bang spent the
first two jams in the penalty box for first period fouls. However,
the tight Quad Squad defense kept Vixen jammers Dolly Pardon Me
and Chop Suzzy from capitalizing on the power plays. The Vixens
refused to give up without a fight, and in the fifth jam Gloria
Stitz mixed it up with Bella Donna. The fight seemed to invigorate
the Vixens and their jammers finally put a few points on the board.
But it wasn't enough and, in the end, the absence of their injured
veterans was too much to overcome. Final score: Vaudeville Vixens
28, Quad Squad 63. | pic by Flash |

the Quad Squad tries again to steal the Reservoir Dolls' glory,
and the Unholy Rollers attempt to even the score with the Vaudeville
Vixens. |

SPECIAL THANKS TO
Cappy; PBR; security and track guys and everyone behind the scenes;
Josh and Mary Meier; Hell Hound; Texas Rollergirls; Rickster the Trackster;
Ralph at Lakeside; King Thong, Sr.; David Coppafeel; all the derby widowers;
our moms; and Madison - we love you! PROCEEDS A portion of the proceeds from this bout will sponsor Madison's Mustaches
for Kids. Don't worry; we're not growing our own! We're just supporting
those that do
and, through them, supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation
of Wisconsin.
The way it works is this: the boys get pledges to grow a real nice 'stache
- and not just any 'stache, they gotta get one of those "corner-to-corner"
Magnum P.I. motorcycle cop type ones. After 4 weeks of proud whisker
wearing, they get themselves to the annual 'Stache Bash where they declare
"The Sweetest 'Stache". Then they give all the money they
raised (with our help!) to Wisconsin's Make-A-Wish Foundation to help
make kids' dreams come true.
